Description

h-hello! ;a; bb game developer here wanting to share what i've been up to for the past two-three weeks ;w; this is my first time; please be gentle ;u;

aah, i've been wanting to make a hetagame for a long time now, but never really thought much on it (i say, as i glance at the 8 game ideas i have sitting in my notebook, hahaha...aha sobs). some of few may have seen me around — offering to beta test, map, etc etc etc. but a few weeks ago i thought: "why not make a short halloween puzzle game!?" thus, this project was born; however, it's far from complete :( as this is a solo endeavor atm i haven't really done much other than creating sprites and maps! so... my dreams of being complete by halloween were shot down. sigh. but!!! i still want to finish this, and what better way to motivate myself than by making a post? so here's a rough overview of the game! plus (a few! not all) of my precious baby maps ;n; i'm very proud of them.

synopsis
gilbert is chosen as his village's offering to the evil spirits that live in the forest behind the village. this sacrificial ritual has been performed since the village's founding, taking many innocent lives because — once someone enters that haunted grounds — they never return. gilbert is determined to get out alive and stop this ritual from ever happening again... somehow. too bad he's pretty defenseless against all the phantoms that want to eat his flesh. he is joined by a seemingly friendly spirit ("you can call me antonio!") who offers assistance for some unknown reason. and gilbert soon learns there's more to this place and his village than meets the eye.

there'll be multiple endings based on how well you navigate gilbert through the haunting ground (& his village) because i believe players should be rewarded for thorough exploration — or, well, not really punished but scolded for breezing through too quickly! essentially, you'll have to avoid being eaten and help these phantoms "move on". antonio'll basically serve as a (sometimes fumbling, but always endearing) guide.

mm, i think that's all? ;_; i hope the idea sounds appealing? ;n; please let me know what you all think. once again, this is a one-man team trying to bumble about making their very first game! so, i'm sorry for lack of any art and quick updates. and maybe next time i'll have a title too? c: and the list of credits used for everything so far

I like the idea, it sound pretty interesting ^^

Here's a little tip: Instead of setting yourself one big deadline for all the work, set lots of smaller ones for smaller goals (like: "In three months I'll have all the maps" or whatever - I've never made a game, I don't know how realistic this is, but you get what I mean right? xP). That way, it is easier to correctly guess the amount of time you'll need, meaning it will be easier to stick to your deadlines, and instead of getting frustrated you'll feel like things are moving along nicely :)
